The internet is full of amazing – legitimate opportunities for wealth, but it also is loaded with scams.  Below is a list things to do to avoid the scams:

1. What’s in it for them?
   Have you heard of the shysters say the following?

   Just pay a small monthly fee and we will do all the work for you
   
   OR

   No selling, no marketing, no work – just send in your money and we do the rest
   
   If this were true – why do they need you anyway?  Why wouldn’t they just do all the selling and marketing for themselves – why do they need you?    Doesn’t seem fair to them does it – which is why it’s a scam.  They really just want you to believe it will work, all the while they cash your monthly charge.

   So to avoid this scam think win-win.  It needs to be a clear win for them as well as a win for you.

2. Is there a strong product?  Or is it just hyped up marketing?
   Behind any money making venture must be a strong product or service with a hungry customer base.

   Make sure before you get involved in any opportunity that you personally try out the product or service so you can see if it 1) lives up to the hype and 2) is worth your time in marketing it (adding ads on your blog, e-mails, direct mail etc…)

   Also make sure that it is competitive.  I have seen some great products, with a great affiliate program (selling program), yet the product was overpriced.  This doesn’t always mean it is a scam, but it does mean it will make it harder for you to make a good profit form it.

3. Is the opportunity product focused or opportunity focused?
   Okay, that may sound confusing – what I mean is some opportunities (affiliate programs, joint venturing etc…) focus more on you helping others sign up to do what you are doing and less attention on the actual product.  These type of income opportunities are revolving selling systems – they only work when you sell the system, which in turn will show people how to sell the system and on and on.  The product is thrown in the middle to keep them from being shut down and put in prison, but it’s shaky ground that few will profit from.
